Having made the case for why we must publish curriculum that is ultimately subversive of the education paradigm of our day, we now come to the most subversive idea of all: We must not publish curriculum, because the entire notion of curriculum is wrong-headed. Rather, we must publish discovery tools, materials that enable children to encounter God in new and exciting ways, to find their path in His will, and to understand His creation with the Mind of Christ.
The word curriculum comes from a Latin root that means a course for a race. When we follow curriculum we follow a path laid out by someone else for someone else. The Christian disciple is a pathfinder. Every one of us has a unique path to follow and part of the joy of life is in the discovery of that path. A profound part of that discovery process is learning to use the right tools to orient yourself, to traverse the terrain, and to stay fit and well along the way.
We will never publish curriculum. But we will publish great tools that facilitate discovery. We are forming pathfinders not path followers. We are forming disciples of Christ. Each one has a unique path. We must choose to provide the right tools for the job.
